Featherton House Care Home in Deddington, Oxfordshire has turned blue and yellow while joining the local community in offering support to those affected by the conflict in Ukraine.
Saddened by the news of the current humanitarian crisis, the residents and team at the home are keen to help in any way they can.
With the help of residentsโ friends and relatives and other supporters of the home, donations have been gathered for several local collections.
The villageโs main collection for those displaced by the ongoing conflict has been organised by local lad Fynn Watt. Fynn has been in contact with the Przemyลl Ukrainian Refugee Camp in Poland to establish a list of items most urgently required. Since setting up a collection hub at the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in the centre of the village, Fynn has been overwhelmed by the response of local people and businesses.
After delivering several crates of supplies such as non-perishable food, baby formula and toiletries, the Featherton House team were incredibly impressed by Fynnโs drive and determination for the project.
Agi Rygala, home manager of Featherton House, said: โWe were incredibly impressed by the enthusiasm and strength of this young person to get involved and support such a big and important project.โ
In addition to running the local collection hub, Fynn has been fundraising for fuel to help transport supplies and Ukrainian refugees between the refugee camp in Poland and the relief missionโs headquarters in Austria. Fynn and a friend will be making the journey to deliver the donations from Deddington to Austria and then assisting with transport for the aid mission from there
As keen animal lovers, the Featherton House family have also been concerned for the welfare of the thousands of pets displaced by the conflict in Ukraine.
After some research, a local collection for an animal shelter in Poland was discovered and the team began to gather much-needed pet supplies for the animals that have arrived from Ukraine.
Several crates of dried and tinned food, bedding and toys have since been delivered to the appeal.
Our Featherton House residents have been determined to show those affected by the conflict that we are all thinking of them. They have been busy creating lots of Ukrainian flags and blue and yellow handprints which are now proudly on display in the home.
On Tuesday 15th March 2022, we joined many of our care colleagues and residents from across the UK, dressed in yellow and blue during a video call to show our solidarity with those impacted at this difficult time.
