Care Home In Westerham Receives Christmas Card Cheer

Residents at Westerham Place care home in Westerham received a festive treat from local school children in the run-up to Christmas.

During December, many beautiful handmade cards arrived for residents from the pupils of Moor House School and College in Oxted and Charles Darwin School at Biggin Hill.

Each card was hand-decorated by the students and contained lovely messages for the residents to enjoy. Everyone had a great time reading out the cards to one another and sharing stories of their time at school.

The Westerham Place residents are always interested to hear how the current situation has impacted the younger generation. For some, it reminded them of their own school days during the Second World War.

Every single card was unique, using a variety of crafts to create wonderfully festive designs. The residents and team at the home couldn’t wait to proudly display them on the walls of Westerham place. They added a lovely homemade feel to the home’s already sparkling Christmas decorations.

Beautiful Pictures

A resident of Westerham Place Care Home said; “I was delighted to hear we had received cards from the kind-hearted local students. We all had a wonderful time reading the cards to each other and the pictures were beautiful!”

We believe it is important for our residents to maintain strong links with the local community, even more so in these unusual times. While visiting restrictions have stopped our intergenerational visits from school groups, it is wonderful to continue that contact via cards and letters. Thank you to all of the kind groups, organisiations and individuals that have thought of our residents at this time.
