Music can boost mood, conjure happy memories and bring people together. At Featherton House Care Home in Deddington this Christmas, it did all of the above!
For many years, performances from local entertainers and community groups have brought great joy to our Featherton House residents.
Throughout the pandemic, we’ve been lucky to keep many of these activities running virtually via the home’s giant interactive tablet. However, following changes in government guidance and a dynamic risk assessment, Featherton House was able to welcome a firm favourite back for the residents’ Christmas party.
Tristan Jackson-Pate has been a long time favourite of the home’s residents, and a regular virtual entertainer during lockdown periods. Much to the delight of the Featherton House family, Tristan was able to make this year’s festive appearance in person. He staged a socially distanced performance of classic hits and festive tunes in the home’s spacious dining room.
During the party, a festive feast of Parma Ham, roast turkey with all the trimmings and Christmas pudding was served. Along with a glass of fizz of course!
In another seasonal musical delight, all at the care home on Chapel Square in Deddington enjoyed Christmas carolling with the local school.
With some residents and team members assembled in the car park in front of the home, and others watching from the warmth inside, children from Deddington Church of England Primary School performed a selection of Christmas carols and songs.
In true Featherton House style, team members clapped and danced along as residents joined in with the singing. Having brought back fond memories of childhood Christmases and a lot of festive cheer, the concert was the perfect way to start Christmas week at the home.
