Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of D-Day at Wren Retirement

The 80th anniversary of D-Day, 6th June 1944, marks a day of reflection and remembrance for the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought for our freedom. At Wren Retirement, we honoured this historic day with meaningful activities and heartfelt commemorations.

Here’s how our homes marked this significant occasion:

Featherton House Care Home

Featherton House celebrated D-Day with a glorious day full of activities. Our garden looked spectacular, thanks to the dedicated teamwork of our lovely staff. The residents were treated to an entertainment session by the wonderful vintage performer Ruby, whose nostalgic renditions added a special touch to the day. Ruby’s heartfelt performances never fail to make us proud, and this celebration was no exception.

At Wren House, the D-Day commemorations were made even more special by our new resident, Bob, who shared his father’s remarkable story. Bob’s father was an American paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division, renowned for their bravery during the D-Day landings. Listening to Bob recount his father’s experiences provided a profound connection to the past, reminding us all of the incredible courage shown by those who served.

A Day of Reflection and Remembrance

The 80th anniversary of D-Day at Wren Retirement was a day filled with reflection, stories, and gratitude. Our activities not only honoured the history of D-Day but also fostered a deeper understanding and appreciation among our residents and staff.

A heartfelt thank you to all who participated and contributed to making this day truly special. The bravery and sacrifices of those who served on D-Day will never be forgotten. Lest We Forget.
