The residents of Deddington Care Home, Featherton House, have enjoyed the sweetest of prize wins!
Recently, the home near Banbury received a nomination in a competition offering local care homes the chance to win an afternoon tea for residents and staff. The competition, organised by Webster’s Event Catering, received nominations for care homes and nursing homes from across the Banbury area.
All at Featherton House were delighted to hear the news that they had won this fantastic treat. Shortly afterwards, Danny from Webster’s arrived on the drive with a van packed full of individually-wrapped afternoon tea treats for all of the residents and team. Thoughtfully put together in cardboard lunch boxes, the treats were handed over to staff outside the home. Following this, the Featherton House team set the afternoon tea up in the dining room as a surprise for the residents. After finding out about the competition and the prize, the Featherton House residents were humbled to have been thought of at this difficult time.
With current Covid-19 infection control measures in place at the home, afternoon teas presented in individual boxes were the perfect gift. This reduces the risk of infection from shared contact with food. The afternoon teas had a Remembrance Day theme. These included a selection of sandwiches, Christmas cake, freshly baked scones with jam and cream and muffins decorated with poppies.
Agi Rygala, interim manager at Featherton House, said; “It was lovely to hear that we had been nominated for the competition, but we even happier to find out that we had won. After a difficult year for our residents and for our team, it was wonderful to see them all enjoying this treat. A huge thank you to the team at Webster’s for sending us the afternoon teas! They really were delicious!”
