The team at Featherton House Care Home near Banbury are celebrating after one of their colleagues was nominated for a prestigious industry award.
Nicola Hutchings, a care worker at the care home in Deddington, has been shortlisted for the ‘Care Home Worker Award’ at the Great British Care Awards for the South East Region.
The Great British Care Awards celebrate the hard work and achievements of those in the care sector. A series of regional finals celebrate the best of each area across the United Kingdom. The winners of these go onto a national final at a later date. Following a challenging year for the care sector and its frontline keyworkers, the awards will also celebrate those who consistently go above and beyond in their work.
Nicola decided to pursue a career in care at an early age. Having grown up with her mother working as a warden in assisted living accommodation she was inspired to train as a care worker. Nicola joined the team at Featherton House earlier this year.
Reflecting on her nomination, the Featherton House residents shared their own admiration for Nicola. Comments included; ‘she is always polite and attentive to any requests I might have’ and ‘she has a gentle and warm approach’.
Featherton House’s interim home manager, Agi Rygala, added; “This nomination is a testament to the hard work, care and dedication shown by Nicola. At Featherton House, we are like one big family. Each day I am very grateful for my team and the exceptional care they give to our residents. I wish Nicola the best of luck for the big night. Of course, she’s already a winner to me.”
Organisers of the Great British Care Awards are hopeful that the full gala evenings for each regional event will take place as planned in 2021. The regional final for the South East is currently slated to take place in Brighton in April.
