Deddington care home resident Joan Hearmon celebrates her 101st birthday at Featherton House with 101 roses and a floral-designed birthday cake.

Deddington Care Home Resident’s 101 Roses

A Deddington care home resident has celebrated her milestone birthday with a gift of 101 beautiful roses.

Everyone at Featherton House was delighted to celebrate resident Joan Hearmon’s landmark 101st birthday with a special party.

After decking out the dining room with balloons and heart-shaped decorations, the team at the Deddington care home gave Joan a stunning bouquet of 101 roses to mark the occasion. Joan’s afternoon of celebrations began with joining her fellow residents for a few celebratory drinks and a slice of cake.

Keeping to Featherton House traditions, Joan’s birthday cake was handmade by the kitchen team. It was finished with a floral theme, topped off with intricate roses made from icing.

After the arrival of the cake, the Featherton House family serenaded Joan with a rapturous rendition of Happy Birthday!

The glamourous centenarian, who is never seen without her sparkling jewellery, is always keen to take part in any activities going on at the care home. Joan is particularly fond of the beauty and pamper sessions.

Finding Enjoyment in Life

Joan said: “I had an amazing time at my birthday party. It was so nice to be made a fuss of and have a sing-song, especially as I wasn’t able to have a real celebration for my 100th last year.

“I keep being asked what the secret to making it to 101 is, and I’d have to say finding as much enjoyment in life as possible, and a nightly glass of sherry!”

Agi Rygala, home manager at Featherton House, said: “It was a delight to celebrate Joan’s special birthday. She is a valued member of the Featherton House family, a proper chatterbox and always up for whatever activity we have going.”
