Take a virtual step inside our picturesque care home in Deddington, near Banbury, for the 6th episode in our ‘Featherton House Cares’ series. This time, our fantastic team will share their favourite things about our historic building, and you’ll discover our residents’ new favourite toy!
We will also help you understand how we keep our residents’ minds active, and how the past plays an important part in this.
We love sharing happy memories at Featherton House! As well as helping us get to know those in our care, reminiscing about the past has many known benefits for care home residents. There are many ways to start conversations about the past. From music to props to local history books, our deputy manager Rachel will help you understand how reminiscence works and the positive effects it can have.
For us, the best part of reminiscence is residents telling their own stories. Watching their faces light up as they remember each moment is an absolute joy. In this episode, we wanted to share one of these moments with you. Join our newest resident Geoffrey as he remembers the time his job unexpectedly sent him on an Indian adventure. You can watch Geoffrey’s full story here.
Earlier this year we completed extensive works to improve the car park at the front of our home. We now have a beautifully flat surface that has improved accessibility all the way into Featherton House. We have now been able to add the ‘finishing touches’ to this project. Watch on to see what we have done.
