A warm welcome to another look into life at our delightful village-centre care home in Deddington near Banbury. The Featherton House Cares video series is designed to give you a virtual view of how we work to improve the lives of our residents.
In this episode, you’ll discover how we work to enhance the wellbeing of our residents and how we truly make them feel at home.
Enhancing the wellbeing of care home residents has never been so important. With varying levels of care home visiting restrictions across the country due to the pandemic, the risk of social isolation and loneliness of older people is a concern we all share. In this video, join our deputy home manager Rachel Freeman and activity coordinator Gemma Hull as they discuss the ways that care teams can support and enhance the wellbeing of individuals in care homes through a difficult time.
As we are sure that you will agree, a trip to the salon is a great way to boost your mood! Although we have been unable to welcome our usual hairdresser into the home, we have taken the opportunity to give our in-house hair salon a makeover. Watch on to take a peek at our new-look salon! Residents may have to wait a while to book in with the professional, but for now, they can enjoy some pampering from our care team in a professional salon environment.
In previous episodes of the Featherton House Cares series, we have talked about the benefits of helping residents to reminisce about the past. Encouraging them to tell their stories and to relive memories can have a noticeable impact on wellbeing. In this episode, following the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, Featherton House resident Geoffrey Hillman shares the important part he played in wartime aircraft production.
