Safe Outside Visiting At Care Home In Deddington

Now that Government coronavirus restrictions have started to ease, residents are able to enjoy safe outside visiting at Featherton House Care Home in Deddington.

These visits allow residents to meet up with their family members in person for the first time in months. This follows the opening of a dedicated safe outside visiting area at the home. The area is designed for special socially-distanced visits from one relative at a time.

Since the beginning of the UK’s lockdown in March, visiting restrictions have been in place to ensure the safety of staff and residents at the home during the global pandemic. Residents have been using video calls, phone calls and text messages to keep in touch with their family members.

However, now, for the first time in several months, residents have been able to meet their loved ones in person.

While adhering to social distancing requirements, residents have been able to sit in the home’s designated visiting area with one family member. The pre-booked visits are subject to a series of strict infection control criteria, including temperature checks and being given PPE to wear on arrival at the home.

“It was lovely to see my grandson again”

Resident Margery Hawes, 97, has been enjoying the outside visiting arrangements at the care home in Deddington. Margery spent an hour catching up with her grandson, George in the shade of our courtyard area.

She said: “It was lovely to see my grandson again; I have only spoken to him over the phone until now.”

Margery’s grandson, George, said: “It was really nice to see my grandmother for the first time since lockdown. I really wanted to come to see my granny as I have really missed her over the past few months.”

At Wren Retirement Living, the safety and wellbeing of our residents are our top priority. Although we are delighted to gradually reintroduce visiting at our homes, we are working hard to ensure that visits continue in a safe and controlled manner. Our safe outside visiting areas are the perfect environment to host socially-distanced visits. We are also working towards being able to offer safe visiting in a dedicated area inside the home during the winter months. We can’t wait to see some more familiar faces very soon!
