Wren Retirement Living Newsletter – Christmas Round Up

In the latest edition of the Wren Retirement Living Newsletter, we are looking back at a very different yet typically busy Christmas at our care homes.

At Christmastime, our homes are usually a hive of activity. With choirs, school groups and entertainers popping in to join our festivities. It goes without saying that Christmas 2021 required some creative thinking. Our teams excelled themselves, as they have many times in the last 12 months, to ensure that residents could enjoy a safe but magical Christmas.

Christmas Carolling

You can’t beat a good festive singalong! Under normal circumstances, the local schools and community groups that visit our homes throughout the year would join our residents for some Christmas carolling. In the early part of December, when outdoor visits were still possible, the residents of Linden House in Epsom were treated to an outdoor performance from local school children. While at Wren House in Warminster, residents enjoyed an outdoor performance from the local church and a virtual visit to the theatre.

Handmade Christmas Wishes

At Wren Retirement, our homes are proud to be at the heart of their local communities. During the pandemic, our teams have been working hard to ensure that residents maintain their cherished community links via technology. However, it was heartwarming to see piles of good old fashioned post arriving at our homes in the run-up to Christmas. Our residents and staff spent many happy hours reading handwritten and hand-decorated cards from local school children and their families. You can see just a few of the wonderful designs in this issue of the Wren Retirement Living Newsletter.

A Winter Wonderland

With visiting restrictions in place due to the pandemic, it was more important than ever to ensure our homes were filled with the magic of Christmas. This year has been tough for many industries, forcing a great number of people to look for alternative employment. Through this, the care sector as a whole has gained scores of talented new individuals. One of our newest team members at Patcham Nursing Home near Brighton moved into care following a career in the events industry. This Christmas he was able to use his skills and resources to create something truly magical for the Patcham residents. Click the link below to read more about the project.
